Why We’re Here

I Live Here, I Give Here’s mission is to deepen and expand the culture of personal philanthropy by inspiring Central Texans to invest more money in our community. We educate and connect individuals and non-profits so more Central Texans experience the personal benefit of increased philanthropy.

Did you know Austin is ranked 48th out of the 50 largest cities in the nation in per capita charitable giving?

Austin is a vibrant city with a personality all its own. The people are passionate, driven, and generous volunteers of their time and talent. But that’s not enough. The biggest problem facing Austin Nonprofits is there is not enough money.

For a city so involved in protecting its natural habitats and native small businesses, the nonprofit needs of Austin should be equally met. But the severe shortage of funds for Nonprofits hurts the community every day.

This is where I Live Here, I Give Here steps in. Our main purpose is to connect people like YOU with the issues you care about and the Nonprofits that support them.

I Live Here, I Give Here is proud of the work we have accomplished since our launch in 2007. We connect the people of Austin with the causes they care about.

We partner with nonprofit groups so they can be more accessible to you. We spotlight specific needs in Austin every month to let you know how you can help.

The Free Fringe
10:00pm @  Hideout Theatre
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the Austin improv scene is bursting with creativity. There are hundreds of performers, and every single one of them is prone to saying things like “Wouldn’t it be crazy if…?” or “I just had the most insane idea.” This is where those dreams go, not to die, but to live gloriously on the stage for one night only. Every week will be dramatically different. There could be shows with improvisers tied up in rope, 50 performers onstage, blindfolded actors, improvising dogs, or 1000 other things. Each show will be anchored and presided over by the duo Firth & Arjet, featuring Kristin Firth and Jessica Arjet (co-owner of The Hideout). THE FREE FRINGE IS FREE. FOREVER. Reserve your tickets in advance to guarantee yourself a spot. More Information:

The 2012 Dewey Ceremony & AIR-Interactive Awards — Knowbility
7:00pm @  Austin, TX
In today's world, technology is more than just a convenience; it is a vessel through which visionaries can tackle tough problems, raise their voices, and improve lives. The 2012 Dewey Ceremony and AIR-Interactive Awards celebrates the potential of technology for good - and those who are driving the change! Dewey Winburne, a co-founder of the SXSW Interactive Festival, was a teacher who spent much of his energy training at-risk youth to make use of digital technology. Dewey believed that the new media revolution could help level the playing field between the haves and the have-nots in our society. SXSW Interactive honors his vision each spring with the Dewey Winburne Community Service Award. In 2012, ten honorees from around the country and the globe will be recognized for their contribution to society through technology. The Accessibility Internet Rally, started in Austin in 1999, is a web-development competition that teaches the importance of making information technology accessible for all people - including those with disabilities. Each year, teams of volunteer web developers come together to learn accessible design skills and to build a website for an artist, musician, or non-profit organization in their community. In 2012, seven teams are competing from Austin and across the nation in this dynamic program. Join us at 7:00 pm on Sunday, March 11 at St. David's Church (301 East 8th St) to honor these outstanding community activitists! Plus, enjoy heavy hors d'eouvres, a cash bar, and the music of Mother Falcon, a local favorite! Admission to the Dewey Ceremony does NOT require a SXSW badge. The public is welcome! Nina Fischer & Maroan el Sani: "Toute la mémoire du monde – The world’s knowledge" — AMOA-ARTHOUSE
12:00pm @  Arthouse at the Jones Center
A reinterpretation of French director Alain Resnais’ similarly titled 1956 film. Resnais’ twenty three-minute documentary sweeps through the historic French Bibliothèque Nationale on Rue de Richelieu in Paris, exposing how the library functions as a storehouse of all the world’s knowledge. The jam-packed library seen in Resnais’ film is a stark contrast to the vacant library in Fischer and el Sani’s 2006 work—where that knowledge has now vanished. After a new Bibliothèque Nationale was opened in 1996, the Rue de Richelieu building was emptied of most of its collections, creating the ultimate setting for Fischer and el Sani to examine ideas of knowledge and memory. Admission to this show is free and open to the general public. More Information:
