Community Need Spotlight
Each month our campaign shines a light on an issue facing many in our community. Share this information with friends and colleagues and visit www.ilivehereigivehere.org to learn more about the many needs across our community and those nonprofits working to provide solutions to those needs.

March Focus: Literacy
Unfortunately, a picture is not worth a thousand words...There is no substitute for LITERACY!

  1. One in four Texas adults can not read a simple story to a child.
  2. The single most significant predictor of a child's language development is her MOTHER'S literacy level.
  3. Children of parents who take an active role in improving their own literacy show improvement in their grades and reading level, and are less likely to drop out of school.

About I Live Here, I Give Here
Austin is no doubt a caring community. But we don't act on our charitable values by sharing our financial resources with nonprofit organizations. National studies consistently find Austinites give far less to charitable causes than people in other cities. In fact, Austin is ranked 48th out of the 50 largest cities in the nation in per capita giving.

The I Live Here, I Give Here Campaign is on a mission to boost local giving by educating fellow Austinites about the needs in our community.
