Ernest Hemingway advised that one should, “Never write about a place until you're away from it, because that gives you perspective.”
It has almost been a year since I moved to Austin from Lawrence, Kansas. Last August, I moved here with a good friend of mine, a new job and way too many winter clothes (since it doesn’t seem to get below 101 degrees in Texas). I grew up in Lawrence, and ultimately, graduated from the University of Kansas, also nestled in the small town of Lawrence. I guess you could say, ok, you could definitely say, I was a “townie.”
